Peggy Lokando signed a two-year professional contract with Southend after impressing the Roots Hall management.
The ex-Arsenal trainee, 17, put pen to paper on a two-year pro contract having only moved to the club six months ago.
The promising midfielder made his debut as a late substitute in this season's Carling Cup win over Watford.
Blues fought off competition from a number of Premiership and Championship sides to land the youth team youngsters signature who has previously represented England at youth level.
