When Alan McCormack requested a move away from Preston this season, there was only one team on his mind to join.
Having previously played for Southend for two months in 2005, the Irishman had no hesitancy in making the move south again.
During his past time with the Blues, the 22-year-old played his part in helping the Club towards the League Two play-offs, only to be recalled prior to the end of the campaign.
This year McCormack became frustrated at a perceived lack of opportunities at Preston, which saw him restricted to only three appearances, and this only increased his desire for pastures new.
He moved to Roots Hall initially on loan in November before making the move permanent at the turn of the year for an undisclosed figure where he has been an energetic influence for the team in the centre of the park.
