FLAHAVAN JOINS PALACE
Goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan has today signed for Championship outfit Crystal Palace on a free transfer.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper was offered a new contract to stay at Roots Hall, but has instead decided to join Palace on a three-year deal.
Flahavan spent eight years with the Blues after originally joining from non-league Woking in 2000.
He went on to make a total of 351 appearances between the sticks for the club prior to his exit this summer.
Earlier this week assistant manager Paul Brush admitted: "We wish Darryl all the best.
"We hope that the move works out for him. He was offered a new contract, but we understand his reasons for going.
"Steve Mildenhall is going to be our number one goalkeeper this season and our goalkeeping coach Lee Turner has begun working with him in training.
"We believe Lee can improve goalkeepers and if he can improve Steve as much as Darryl improved under his guidance then hopefully we are well covered in that position."
